Plini & David Maxim Micic at The Humming Tree, Bangalore

BlueTree Tours : Plini Ft. David Maxim Micic + Kraken, Bangalore

I came to know that Plini, one of my favorite modern instrumentalists was in town when I was back home in India for a week, and jumped at the chance to catch him live. Due to some miscommunication, I only managed to catch an earlier show and not the mega show planned for later on the night.

Nevertheless, David Maxim Micic was first on stage and played a few tunes off Who Bit the Moon. The sound was crisp and loud in the small venue and the crowd was warming up. A guest violinist made an appearance for the final title track as we bid farewell to David with loud claps.

Plini was soon on stage to a huge roar and he too played most of the tracks off his new album Handmade Cities. Crowd favourites (and mine too!) “Electric Sunrise” and “Cascade” were played with great gusto. Mohini Dey dropped by which I was hoping for and showed some of her absurd bass tapping techniques that Plini would have been proud of portraying on his guitar. I was however disappointed by how short the show was, lasting not even an hour and we didn’t get to hear any songs off Sweet Nothings. I guess missing the main event did have its consequences.

Nevertheless would I go watch Plini live again? 100% yes, and I would ensure I see a full-length show the next time.

You’re best off reading a detailed review that was published on MetalWani website.

Orphaned Land was in town with some great opening acts (In Vain, Subterranean Masquerade, Aevum). If you’re living in Europe, you should go check them out!
